DOING LAUNDRY

The rollers of a hand cranked
washing machine nearly tugged
my fingers to its jaws.

Yet that dread quickly faded.
Instead, the smell of laundry soap
lingered, scent of lye.  Everything
seemed clean as forgetting.

Mother put the clothes through
twice: washing then rinsing.
Bubbles escaped the cycle,
landed on the freckles of my nose.

The clothesline took the weight
of water and fabric, held the clothes
to the beating sun.  And I ran
wild, blue eyes seeking gaps,
blonde head zigzagging with glee.

Passing breeze held the clothes
horizontal for a moment,
Aladdin’s carpet whisked me
to places far as dreams,
lye and something else
in the air
lingering.

I once collected idioms around my mouth;
Though I’d affixed them to parchment,
my ambition was quite noble.

Writing was not for wealth-
not for reverence of any kind.
It was for the gaiety of released words,
which later flocked together in verse.

I knew I’d never gather riches
of a monetary kind, in lieu
I’d collect winsome treasures
when readers traipsed where my nib once reclined.

Hi Missy, I just found this poem you wrote for me, I cannot remember seeing it until now, I may have been ill at the time you sent it and it got lost in the archives, it's very nice of you to write this for me and I am touched that you have and it is so nice, didnt make it yesterday but made my day today, Cheers Missy, XXXPHil (ding ding!!)

Voids feel the empty places
where once you filled the page
silent echo's of nothing
reverberate with unhurried pace.
Where the wit of a seasoned pro resided,
now has given way to the unwise.

The elevator man is gone and the dang
doors will not open up and I am stuck on
the fourth floor and can't get out!!!!!

Have a great day Phil, keep in good health, and never give up believing and hoping in a better tomorrow.

Hi Missy; I feel like I went for that walk with you. We still have snow here, but the deck is clear so I sat outside with Angelique, trying to catch some of the sun's warm rays. Unfortunately we had to bundle up like we were in the north pole, the icy winds cut right through us. I think I'll hold up inside until June:) I love your blog; it keeps us posted to what your up to:) As always; you did a great job, I love everything about this zone.

Blogging My Thoughts

Wow, again it's been awhile since I last posted here. What's been up? Well I've been working and writing and running my son to appointments on Mondays. The other days my dad has been taking him.

We've had two snow snow falls in a span of a week and could possibly get some more snow tonight. Yikes, okay so it's better than ice. I love the winter, but it's so extreme anymore. A sign of the times we live in for sure.

I've been trying to evolve my poetry. I want to put together a poetry but, but the cost is a bit more than what I can afford right now. It's a plan though. I wonder what it would be like to be a published poet.

Anyhow that's it for now, I'm still doing Weight Watchers, but I'm on a lull right now. Just not motivated. I need to find my motivation soon as it cost for me NOT to los
