Effigy

Affix my face to an effigy,
no not a sculpture on some stone.
but chiseled inmost words unrhymed
so others see how I'm predisposed.

I want my image not sheathed
in marbled rock of counter use,
but buried deep within the verse
where edicts cast a better view.

Growing Children

Growing Children

Tender seeds
in sowers hand,
cultivates in fertile land.
Yielding fruit
of greatest gain,
when sowers love
upon seed rains.

When weeds
would choke
the fragile seeds,
sowers hands
pull the weeds.
Ensuring their productive growth,
soon blooms the seeds
the sower sowed.

Changeling

It's funny how life changes us as we grow. In youth we have innocense plastered across our faces and the realities of life haven't weighed us down. I think this picture captures me in the innocense of life and the joy of being a child.

We've waited a long time for Joshua to get some height on him. Now he towers over mom and stands a few inches taller than me. We're happy though at least he gets that from the Sherman side of the family.

Here is mom and Joshua in our front yard.  My mom is quite the prankster read this story here to see how she got back at my brother and sister and I one day.... Click the blue link.

Trust

Brother isn't quite hatched yet in this picture. Aren't I a cutie!!

This was a few years back. Folks and son were visiting my sister in Arlington. This photo was taken at the Fort Worth Cattle Yards.

My Dear Children, I was thinking about you today. As your father I wanted you to know I look upon you daily. Often I shed tears for all the struggles you face. I know it's hard living under the pressures of an enemy unseen, it can take a toil on you... More>

Could it be possible? Could a parent like another child more than the other? Society would have us believe so. Talk shows create whole scenarios on the possibility, but really, is it that a parent likes one child more or is it that they might relate ... More>

I thought you were valiant. Boldly posed to ward off intruders. You were so small in comparison to the vastness of what you held at bay. A splash of color against the stark gray. I suppose it isn't the size that matters, just the fortitude to face t... More>

Hi Missy; I feel like I went for that walk with you. We still have snow here, but the deck is clear so I sat outside with Angelique, trying to catch some of the sun's warm rays. Unfortunately we had to bundle up like we were in the north pole, the icy winds cut right through us. I think I'll hold up inside until June:) I love your blog; it keeps us posted to what your up to:) As always; you did a great job, I love everything about this zone.

Blogging My Thoughts

Tomorrow is "THE" day, you know that day men start dreaming of from August onward. The Saints and the Colts, who would of thunk it! Go Colts.... I say that because my son and a friend are on opposing sides, so I'm siding with my son and Pete is going for the Saints and it seems most everyone else is too.

I myself am not much of a football fan. I do however enjoy most of the commercials that come with the superbowl hype. I will be looking forward to that, as well as the gathering I'll be attending. Some of us will play cards while the majority are hooping and hollering over touchdowns and fumbles.

It's going to be a terrific time. We decided to go with a theme this year and it's Mexican. I'm making tamales and empanadas and spanish rice. Mom is making a salsa and deviled eggs (I know it isn
